Just before 9 a.m., Wednesday October 30, 2024, an armored truck employee was killed in Kings Mountain, North Carolina.

Witnesses say a Loomis Fargo Truck was at the ATM near Kings Street near a local Pharmacy. Witnesses then heard shots fired near the ATM.

Several people called 9-1-1 after finding a man lying unconscious near the ATM. Upon police arrival, they found that the man was shot at least twice. CPR and medical procedures were performed on the man at the scene. Unfortunately, the Loomis Fargo armored truck employee was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Kings Moutain Police say the armored truck employee was servicing the ATM just before 9 a.m. A dark colored SUV pulled up to the area of the ATM. At least one suspect then shot multiple times striking the armored truck employee at least twice. Police are unsure if there is more than one suspect at this time. Police say the witnesses observed the dark colored SUV fleeing the scene.

Police say they are reviewing security cameras nearby. The armored truck employee also had a body camera which is going to be reviewed. The employee was armed. The suspect had stolen the weapon from the employee. The amount of money stolen has not been released at this time.

Police say they think this was a robbery for the money and the employee was not the target.

The FBI has been contacted to assist with the investigation.

The name of the employee is not being released pending notification of his family.
