On June 18, 2024, at around 7:50 P.M. Eastern time, a 76 year-old Laredo Texas man was killed after being stuck and carried for six blocks by a U-Haul trailer that was being pulled by a van. The man was identified as Vicente Gytan.
This happened at the intersection of Lyon and Frost in Laredo, Texas. Witnesses advised the van pulling the U-Hail trailer was at the red light and was stopped. Vicente started to cross the intersection and walked between the van and the trailer. The traffic light then turned green, and the van proceeded forward. Vincente was then trapped and pulled between the trailer and van for about six blocks. The van and trailer left the area. It is unknown but police think that the driver of the van was not aware of the incident at that time.
The Laredo Police later tracked the driver of the van from records obtained from the U-Haul rental company. Police say the driver of the van is cooperating with the investigation and no charges are being filed at this time. Police would not release the driver’s name due to the ongoing investigation.
