Updated Report: 06/26/2024: GBI Identifies Suspect Shot by U.S. Marshals in Dekalb County, Georgia
GBI released the identity today of the man who was shot and injured by U.S. Marshals who were attempting to arrest him for a homicide charge. The man from Massachusetts, Kevin Barton, 32 years-old, was shot and taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. No Deputies, or Officers were injured. The Task Force started searching for Kevin in the area of Rockbridge Road and Memorial Drive yesterday after 1:00 P.M.
After they located Kevin Barton, the suspect fled. While he was fleeing, he pointed a gun at a Deputy Marshal. Another Deputy Marshal then fired and struck Kevin Barton. At the hospital, Kevin is listed in stable condition.
GBI said that additional charges will be filed by the DeKalb County Police for Kevin Barton.

U.S. Marshals Shot and Injured a Homicide Suspect in Dekalb County, Georgia
Just in the last 2 hours the U.S. Marshals office stated there is an investigation being handled by the Georgia Bureau of Investigation after a shooting that took place Tuesday afternoon in the area of Dekalb County near Rockbridge Road and Memorial Drive.
U.S. Marshals said the shooting occurred while they were attempting to serve an arrest warrant for a homicide suspect.
Witnesses advised there were multiple police vehicles in the area setting up a perimeter and blocking areas.
The suspect was taken to the Grady Memorial Hospital. No U.S. Marshal or Police Officer were injured.
Since this is a pending investigation, the U.S. Marshals Office and the G.B.I. is not releasing the suspect’s name, age, or condition at the hospital.
