Umbrella Impales Florida Beach Goer
Cocoa Beach Police reported an incident where a woman was impaled by an umbrella while lying on the beach and sunbathing. The incident occurred at Cocoa Beach.
The woman was lying near her family on the sand at the beach near the water. The umbrella then dismounted from the sand and then impaled the woman’s leg. They do not know why the umbrella dismounted from the beach.
Family members called for help and the Cocoa Beach Fire Department and Brevard County Fire Rescue along with Police responded to the scene. The canopy part from the umbrella’s pole had to be cut at the scene as it was moving around while in the woman’s leg. She was transported to a nearby hospital. It is unknown the current status of the woman at the hospital.
Police say that it is rare for an umbrella accident to occur however, similar incidents have been known to have happened.
